CO2 Emissions Calculation
Methodology
As Shipsgo, we are taking steps to make a difference.
Shipsgo aims to develop sustainable solutions with the help of digital technologies and present them to its users. Enhancing visibility, transparency, and awareness of carbon emissions from logistics is one of our main goals. Shipsgo CO2 allows you to learn a carbon footprint of a shipment.
Shipsgo Calculation Process
Shipsgo methodology is based on the methodology approved by the GLEC Framework. The method used to calculate emissions is based on the following references:
- Third IMO Greenhouse Gas Study 2014
- Fourth IMO Greenhouse Gas Study 2020
- EMEP/EEA air pollutant emission inventory guidebook 2019; GLEC Framework 2020
CO2 calculations are based on the estimation of fuel consumption for a specific vessel. Our modeling follows the publications of the IMO to estimate fuel consumptions based on:
- Distances
- Vessel characteristics
- Speeds
Shipsgo is accredited by Smart Freight Centre to provide carrier greenhouse gas emissions data for freight and logistics operations that are in methodological conformance with the Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework for Logistics Emissions Methodologies (GLEC Framework) © ®
